I made the first ab-plane Josephson junctions on a two-dimensional cuprate by helium ion irradiation! I ran the simulation for the ion damage range, fabricated the devices by lift-off process and a focused helium ion microscope, measured the transport properties, and characterized the sample surfaces. The work discovers a potential plateform for multidimensional superconducting circuits. The follow-up work will reveal the metal-insulator transition of the devices and the tunneling spectra for both cooper pairs and quasi-particles (in preparation).
