STM Image of YBCO/BFO Interface

Anisotropic superconductivity induced by periodic multiferroic domain patterns

A lot of novel phenomena have been found at interfaces of two different materials such as 2D electron gas at LaAlO₃/SrTiO₃. Observation of density of states provides a direct evidence for these phenomena. I used scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to probe the electron properties at the interface of cuprate superconductor YBa₂Cu₃O_7-x and multiferroics BiFeO₃ with different domains. The STM images and spectrum revealed the polarization effect on superconductivity.
